I’ve rounded up 9 delicious breast milk boosting smoothies for you in this post. I tried to include a wide array of flavors to be sure to please any palate! Though all of these smoothies already include delicious lactogenic foods, you can always add a few more in if it’s to your liking.
Some yummy foods that work great to enhance almost any lactation smoothie:
Brewer’s Yeast:
Brewers yeast is known to boost milk supply in some woman. It can be taken in tablet or powdered form. But be sure to pick up the Debittered version because it’s pretty savory otherwise.
Oatmeal:
Adding oats into your diet daily is a well known way to increase your milk supply. Oatmeal is high in iron. Which a nutrient essential to maintaining a high milk supply. Oats are also amazing for keeping you full and satiated to help you continue a healthy diet to lose the baby weight quickly in a healthy way.
Flax meal:
Flax seeds are a well known galactagogue. Almost every milk boosting recipe (cookies, smoothies, and more) will include it! Because it contains essential fatty acids you need and definitely can help to boost your supply quickly; Ground Flax Seed is a perfect food to add into all of your lactation smoothies.
Blueberries:
Breastfeeding will literally suck the liquid and nutrients right out of you! Blueberries are loaded with antioxidants and vitamins that are essential to a healthy breast milk supply. The extra boost of vitamins and minerals in this delicious fruit will aid in lactation as well as hydrating you when you REALLY need it!
Papaya:
Papaya (especially green papaya) has been used for centuries throughout Asia to increase breast milk supply. This tropical fruit is rich in vitamins A, E and K. It is an extremely low calorie fruit while also being very flavorful and absolutely loaded with vitamin C. Papaya is a perfect fruit to add into your lactation smoothies to possibly increase milk supply,
Spinach:
Spinach (and most dark leafy greens like kale, lettuce, and broccoli are rich in nutrients including calcium. Dark leafy greens, including spinach, also contain photoestrogens which appear to have a positive effect on breast milk production. When blended into a smoothie a handful of spinach has almost no taste (while the flavor of other photoestrogen rich vegetables I find much more overpowering.)
