What Makes This Mock Strawberry Margarita Healthy?
If you’re in the mood for a refreshing treat, look no further than this nonalcoholic mock strawberry margarita! But you probably already know that margaritas are typically one of the worst choices as far as health goes when it comes to mixed drinks.
A typical margarita recipe is filled with a super high-sugar margarita mix, artificial colors, and a lot of tequila. You can replace most of these ingredients with much healthier alternatives and still get a delicious and very similar flavor. It WILL be minus the buzz though.
This classic summertime concoction mixes strawberries – either freshly picked or frozen – with lime juice, sweet agave nectar, and a pinch of sea salt or margarita salt to bring out the fruit’s natural sweetness.
Those bad for you sugars are replaced with agave nectar, which still kind of gives that tequila flavor but has far less sugar. Agave is naturally sourced and much less processed sugar that has a low GI rating of only 17. This means it won’t spike your blood sugar in the same way that white sugar will.
A strawberry margarita mocktail is a great way to beat the heat on those hot summer days, and sure to be embraced by family and friends alike!
Who would like to drink mock cocktails?
Mocktails are a great way for adults to enjoy a refreshing beverage without the alcohol content; or a way for kids to feel like they are getting a special adult-type drink too.
They can be made with just about anything, from tea and juice combinations to fruity soda concoctions. Anybody looking for a lighter but still tasty drink can turn to mocktails!
Mocktails can also act as a healthier alternative, as many of them contain ingredients such as fresh fruits and vegetables that bring additional nutritional benefits like the strawberries in this margarita recipe.
These drinks offer something special that is not found with regular beverages and make it easier for adults, kids, or anybody else looking for an interesting non-alcoholic treat! They are perfect to use when setting up your mocktail bar for your next party.

Mock Margarita Variations
You can make a delicious mock margarita with different fruits instead of strawberries. Instead of opting for the traditional strawberry margarita, why not mix things up and use some other delicious fruits? From sweet mangoes to tangy lemons, there are so many different flavors to choose from.
For a tropical twist, you can also add a splash of pineapple juice to the mix. Or, if you’re looking for something more on the sour side, trade in some of the lime juice for lemon juice.
If you love spices, try adding a pinch of chili powder or cayenne to give it an extra kick! The possibilities are endless when it comes to creating the perfect mocktail.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh strawberries
- 2 Large limes
- Lime slices for garnish
- 1/4 cup agave nectar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup ice
- Margarita salt
Instructions
- Juice the limes. You COULD use bottled lime juice but the taste does not nearly compare to fresh on this one, so use a couple of limes.
- Cut the extra lime into slices for garnish. Use one of these to rub the rim of the glasses. Then roll the glasses in the margarita salt.
- Add the strawberries, lime juice, water, and agave nectar to a blender and blend on high. If your strawberries are frozen add them last.
- Add the ice and blend again. Conversely, if you want your margarita shaken you can skip this step and instead add the ice to salt-rimmed-glasses and pour it over.
- Cheers!
