What is a detox soup?

Soup is wonderful for detoxifying your body! It is very important in our society filled with toxins that even when following a clean diet you work a bit of detox into our lives. We are inundated in modern society with toxins from our daily cleansing routine, foods we consume, and things we encounter throughout the day.

There are lots of easy and delicious detox drinks that can really kick up your health and cleansing every day. Soup is another easy and gentle way to detoxify your body.

Much like a smoothie, your body is more easily able to absorb the nutrients of the vegetables and fruits in a soup or stew because they are cooked, soft, and/or pureed.

While all fruits and vegetables are great for you and provide a seemingly endless amount of vitamins and nutrients, they are often difficult to digest. Broccoli and cabbage are two examples of delicious and healthy foods that many people have trouble digesting.

How do carrot and ginger detoxify your body?

Carrots are loaded with vitamins including vitamins C, A, K and B6. Carrots are phenomenal for detoxifying your liver  specifically because they are rich in glutathione. They even are loaded with potassium.

Ginger is known to be one of the best detoxifying and cleansing herbs around! Ginger is great for detox because it is anti-inflammatory, aids digestion, cleanses the liver, and detoxifies the lymphatic system!

Talk about packing a punch of power in one tiny little root. This is also why ginger is great to include in your daily detox drinks.

This stew also contains 3 MORE Super Detoxifying ingredients:
Cabbage, Onion, and Cumin.

What Makes This a Gluten Free Detox Stew?

A stew is essentially a very thick soup. The liquid is reduced by cooking low and slow for an extended period of time OR the liquid is thickened. Often stews are thickened with wheat flour. I was curious whether or not I could create a stew utilizing Garbanzo bean flour and it worked out beautifully!

I’ve recently been using my NutriBullet as a grinder and absolutely love it. You can grind up anything. I’ve ground up brown rice and split peas to make the cleanest and cheapest protein powder ever, made powdered sugar from Sugar in the Raw (and then frosting), and made all kinds of gluten free flours!

How can I make my own gluten free flours for pennies on the dollar?

Simply fill the cup of the NutriBullet about half full with beans, sugar, rice, anything… and you can make your own:

  • powdered sugar
  • gluten free flours
  • protein powders

I’m so obsessed with my little Bullet Blender. I use it every day and it never leaves the counter. Oat flour is another of my favorites to make in my NutriBullet. It is the best and most tasty gluten free flour for baking in my opinion.

So for to thicken this slow cooker detox soup into a stew you will be using gluten free garbanzo bean flour! Which thickens the soup to make it a delicious vegetarian, gluten free, stick-to-your-ribs stew.

You can create your own flour easily ( 1 lb for $1 if you use your NutriBullet like me) or you can pick up some amazing ready made Garbanzo Bean Flour as well.
