Why I Created a Diet Plan for Breastfeeding Mothers to Lose Weight
I am a mother of 3 and a certified online health coach with certifications in nutrition and personal fitness training as well. Motherhood, health, nutrition, and fitness all hold very important places in my life.
I first became a mother 12 years ago. At the time I was only 22. I hadn’t been recovered from my eating disorder and other mental health issues stemming from a disease for very long at this time.
I wanted to eat healthy, and put on the right amount of weight to grow a healthy baby, but I was eager to lose the excess weight as well knowing that excess weight didn’t put my mind in the healthiest of places.
Already being a certified personal fitness trainer at the time, I knew a lot about getting into shape and losing weight through diet and exercise. What I did not yet know too much about was breastfeeding. I didn’t know how to eat for milk supply at all.
I was able to lose the baby weight in a month through breastfeeding, diet, and light exercise… but it wasn’t a “diet plan for breastfeeding mothers to lose weight,” just more of your typical diet and exercise plan. Which, unfortunately:
is pretty bad for milk supply.
I made enough breastmilk while losing the baby weight to grow a plump happy little baby, but not enough to be comfortable. It felt like I was breastfeeding all the time to keep her satiated.
So before my next baby was born, I began studying breastfeeding and milk supply.

Sure, I was successfully able to lose the baby weight after the birth of my first daughter quickly, but I knew I had to be able to do it better! Maybe a bit slower, and with a lot more breastmilk!
