How to Use Overnight Oats for Breastfeeding?

As a new mother there is almost always the question of how to naturally increase breast milk supply in our minds. Whether it be searching for how to increase breast milk supply with home remedies fast, or how to increase supply on a daily basis with delicious galactagogue loaded foods like tantalizing lactation cookies.

Overnight oats to increase breastmilk supply are a perfect choice for so many reasons. Mainly:

1. As a new mom your time is limited.

2. Oatmeal is a well-known galactagogue.

3. Oats are super cheap.

But Be Careful With Using Oats as a Meal While Breastfeeding.

Or any time you are trying to follow a balanced diet really.

Sure oats are marketed as a super healthy choice for breakfast but in reality, on their own, they are not. They are not a balanced meal alone at all.

That’s like eating just a bowl of cereal, a slice of toast, or a bowl of rice for breakfast. A whole bunch of carbohydrates without enough fat or protein to slow down the use of them in your body. Meaning a blood sugar spike and crash and getting hungry really fast after that happens.

You get hungry quickly enough while exclusively breastfeeding, you don’t need unbalanced meals expediting pangs of hunger returning any further.

However oats are an all natural whole food. They are a healthy grain with fiber and loads of other nutrients. So when deciding to have oats for a meal/breakfast always remember to treat them as the carb of your meal. Meaning you should be adding healthy fats, maybe some fruit or veggies, and some protein along with them. Then oats can become a great choice to incorporate into your diet!

It’s so important to know tips like this about proper nutrition for your breastfeeding diet! Especially if you are still struggling to lose that excess baby weight.

Overnight Oats are Great to Increase Milk Supply While Breastfeeding

Overnight oats are a perfect idea for increasing milk supply! They are quick and easy ways to fancy up your oats, and turn them into a delicious meal!

You can eat overnight oats cold or warm them up. But the idea is that they are prepped before and all ready to go in the fridge whenever you want a fast and healthy meal.

My favorite ingredients to add to overnight oats are:

  • chia seeds
  • almonds
  • hemp hearts
  • flax meal

And sometimes when I don’t even have the time to whip up a bunch of batches of overnight oats from scratch I make them with Majka’s lactation oats. But warning, they are so addictive you might never stop making your overnight oats that way!

They pack so much goodness into their lactation oats it is amazing! The taste is great and making them is the easiest because they are ready-made and loaded with galactagogues already.

But what if you want to make your own homemade mixed-up overnight oats?

Well, I’ve got you covered! Boost your milk supply (or just enjoy a super tasty, easy, healthy meal) by trying these overnight oat recipes.
