Why are Fat Bombs Essential to the Keto Diet?

One of the most amazing things about the Keto Diet are fat bombs. On a Ketogenic diet you are restricting your carbohydrate intake and replacing it with lots of healthy fats.

When you are consuming very little carbohydrates (about 20 grams a day) your body begins burning fat for fuel instead of utilizing carbohydrates for its fuel. When your body has made this switch in energy production we refer to it as being in a state of Ketosis.

Ketosis has a multitude of health benefits. But it is of course extremely popular for its ability to cause rapid weight loss.

When your body is in a state of Ketosis you’re not only burning the fat you consume for energy. It also begins utilizing your stored fat for energy as well. Literally burning off your stored fat as fuel.

Tips for Making Chocolate Peanut Butter Fat Bombs

  1. You can use full sized cupcake liners, mini cupcake liners, or silicone molds to make these fat bombs easily. I prefer using full sized cupcake liners. I usually only eat a half at a time!
  2. The more solid your coconut oil is the more quickly these will harden. If your coconut oil is solid heat up your measured amount over the stovetop or microwave only until softened as opposed to a fully liquid state if you want your fat bombs to be completed sooner.
  3. The sweetener is optional in this recipe. I usually prefer them sweetened as they then remind me of Reese’s peanut butter cups. Or the stevia can be interchanged with monk fruit if you prefer.
  4. MACROS: This recipe makes 8 fat bombs. The macronutrients for each fat bomb are 191 calories, 21 grams of fat, 5 grams of carbohydrates, and 2.75 grams of protein. If you decide to make larger or smaller fat bombs that is ok too, just use the macronutrients for the entire recipe to find out exactly how much you put in each fat bomb. The whole recipe is: 1530 calories, 170 grams of fat, 39 carbs, and 22 grams of protein.

    1. Yes always unsweetened cocoa. No sugar in fat bombs! Too high in carbs. But if you want it sweeter just add some stevia or monk fruit. 🙂
