This recipe features Oreos dunked in chocolate and decorated with imaginative monster faces. With googly eyes, colorful icing, and a touch of creativity, each cookie is unique and really fun to make with the kids.

When I First Made These Halloween Oreo Cookie Treats with My Kids
The first time we made these Halloween Oreo cookie treats with my kids—it was an absolute blast! I had 3 kids already ranging in age from 2 to 12.
We had decided to get into the Halloween spirit a bit early that year, and what better way than with some creative kitchen fun? I had seen similar adorable monster-faced Oreos online and thought, “Hey, why not design my own!”
So, armed with Oreos, melting chocolate, colorful sprinkles, and a whole lot of enthusiasm, we got to work. Sure, it got messy—there’s no denying that chocolate and icing were everywhere, including on our faces—but that’s part of the fun, right?
The kids were giggling the whole time trying to perfect their monster designs and sneakily snacking on a few Oreos along the way and I only had to raise my voice twice. For those who are used to baking with more kids than hands, you know that’s a win!
What surprised me the most was how easy it actually was. It took some patience and creativity, but I managed to make some pretty cute monster faces. The best part was seeing the excitement on my kids’ faces when they unveiled their creations—each Oreo was unique and filled with their personalities.
And bonus, they were delicious! The combination of the crunchy Oreo and the creamy white chocolate is a match made in Halloween heaven. We couldn’t resist sampling a few (or more) before they even had a chance to fully set.
What I loved most about making these Halloween Oreo treats was that it was truly an activity for all ages. Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, there’s something so satisfying about getting creative with your food. It brought us together, sparked our imaginations, and gave us a sweet treat to enjoy afterward.
Making these Halloween Oreo Cookie Treats has become a new tradition in our house—one that we look forward to every year.
How to Make Halloween Oreo Cookie Treats Step-by-Step
Ingredients:
- 12 Oreo cookies
- ¼ cup Purple candy melts
- ¼ cup Green candy melts
- ¼ cup Orange candy melts
- Halloween sprinkles (e.g., bats, pumpkins, ghosts, and other spooky shapes)
Preparation: First line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Parchment paper NOT waxed paper. I was literally 35 years old when I learned those two things are NOT the same thing, whoops.
Make a small bowl of each type of sprinkle. This is 1000x less messy than sprinkling them straight onto the candy covered cookies.
In three separate microwave-safe bowls, place the purple, green, and orange candy melts. Microwave each bowl one at a time, in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until the candy melts are fully melted and smooth. DO NOT overcook, it messes up the chocolate.
Now comes the really fun part! Dipping the Oreos! Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each Oreo cookie into the melted candy until fully coated. Allow the excess candy to drip off before placing the cookie onto the prepared baking sheet.
While the candy coating is still wet, generously sprinkle the Halloween sprinkles over the top of each Oreo. This is where you can really let your kid’s creativity shine.
Allow the decorated Oreos to sit at room temperature until the candy coating has completely hardened. This can take about 30 minutes to an hour. If you’re in a hurry, you can place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to speed up the process.
Once the candy coating has set, arrange the Halloween Oreos on a festive plate or store them in an airtight container until ready to serve. These are perfect to bring to class parties, have on the dessert table at your own Halloween party, share with the neighbors, or just enjoy with your family.
